Apollo 8 space traveler William Anders, who caught perhaps of the most famous photo in space, has kicked the bucket in a plane accident at 90 years old.

Into the ocean off Washington express, a little airplane that he was flying crashed according to the authorities, as per BBC.

Anders' child Greg affirmed on Friday evening that his dad's body was recuperated.

"The family is crushed. He was an incredible pilot. He will be remembered fondly," an assertion from the family read.

On the Apollo 8 mission, Anders, who was a lunar module pilot, caught the notable Earthrise photo. It is one of the most significant and rousing pictures of Earth from space.

During the 1968 mission, the image was taken on Christmas Eve. It was the main run spaceflight to leave Earth and arrive at the Moon. From the desolate lunar surface, the image shows the Earth transcending the skyline.

Afterward, Anders portrayed this accomplishment as his most conspicuous commitment to the space program.

Anders' plane crashed at around 11:40 PDT (19:40 BST), said authorities.

Witness Philip Individual told Lord television in Seattle that he saw the accident.

The plane started doing what seemed, by all accounts, to be a circle and became upset, he told the organization.

"I was unable to accept what I was finding before my eyes," Individual told the nearby news station. "It seemed to be a right thing out of a film or embellishments. With the huge blast and flares and everything."
